These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Akatora (the “Service”), a non-profit, non-commercial platform operated by an individual based in Slovenia (the “Operator”).
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, the User agrees to be bound by these Terms.
The Service is available only to individuals aged 18 years or older. By registering, the User represents and warrants that they meet this age requirement.
Registration is currently limited to users signing up from a defined list of European countries (the “Europe-only signup restriction”). This is a permanent feature of the Service, not a temporary limitation, and is enforced at signup and login as described in the Privacy Policy.
3.1. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.
3.2. Users agree to provide accurate information when creating and maintaining their profile.
3.3. Users may delete their account at any time via account settings. Upon deletion, the Operator deletes or anonymizes the User’s profile, content and personal data from the Service, subject to the retention and legal-compliance exceptions described in the Privacy Policy.
Certain records, such as moderation logs, hashed IP addresses retained in abuse-prevention lists and audit trail entries, may be kept in pseudonymous form for the periods described in the Privacy Policy, where necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal compliance; these records may still constitute personal data under the GDPR and are not guaranteed to be fully anonymized. The Operator aims to complete profile and content deletion within 30 days of the request. If deletion of externally stored media (such as images held with a storage provider) fails on the first attempt, it is placed into an automatic retry process rather than left incomplete; this may extend the time needed to remove that specific item beyond the initial 30-day window, without delaying removal of the User’s account access.
Users shall not:
(a) harass, threaten, or abuse other Users;
(b) post or transmit unlawful content, hate speech or content promoting violence;
(c) impersonate any person or entity;
(d) use the Service for spam, fraud or unauthorized commercial solicitation;
(e) attempt to access another User’s account or data without authorization;
(f) attempt to disrupt, overload or abuse the Service’s technical infrastructure, including through automated or scripted activity.
Violation of this Section may result in content removal, formal warning, temporary suspension or permanent termination of the User’s account, at the Operator’s discretion and proportionate to the severity of the violation.
5.1. Users retain ownership of content they submit to the Service, including posts, comments, and images (“User Content”).
5.2. By submitting User Content, the User grants the Operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store and transmit that content solely as necessary for the operation of the Service.
5.3. Users represent that they hold the necessary rights to any User Content they submit and that such content does not infringe the rights of any third party.
Direct messages are encrypted at rest but are not end-to-end encrypted; the Operator’s infrastructure retains the technical capacity to access message content under limited circumstances (see Privacy Policy, Section 4). Group and stream messages are not encrypted. Use of any messaging feature does not constitute a representation that communications are private from the Operator.
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The Operator makes reasonable efforts to maintain the availability, security and functionality of the Service but does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Users may report content or conduct that violates these Terms through the Service’s reporting functionality. Reports are reviewed at the Operator’s discretion and may result in the actions described in Section 4.
The Operator may modify these Terms or the Service at any time.
Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date and version identifier. Where a change is material, including changes to how account deletion or data retention works, existing Users will be asked to accept the revised Terms; the Operator keeps a record of each version a User has accepted, together with the date of acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Slovenia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
